My early life is a blur of survival and existence

In my formative years, positive role models were absent from my life. I lacked confidence and esteem. I suffered with depression, anxiety and bad habits which only compounded those afflictions. By the age of 26 I was diagnosed with PTSD and hit an emotional rock bottom.

I was trapped in a mental prison of blame and anger

I thought if only the circumstances of my life had been different I'd be happy.

At 24, suffering led me to seek help. With the help of great teachers, mentors and coaches, I began to learn what was really running my life and driving my misery.

It wasn't just my past or where I came from that was making life difficult, it was also my thinking and beliefs.

I realized any lasting change would have to come from within me -- and the actions I would take.

Over time and with practice and experience I transformed from a helpless victim to a resilient, confident and resourceful woman. I learned to thrive -- and ultimately reconnect me to my inner strength.

Experience has shown me that what I believe influences what I do. Thinking and behavior go hand in hand. Through supportive guidance and accountability, I steadily recreated my life -- from the inside out.

It's a fact that some things aren't easy to walk through. Life can be hard. But my life has proven to me that each encounter holds within it an opportunity to grow in understanding and strength. And that we are equipped with the capacity to deal with whatever comes our way.

Through all of my ups and downs and trials and triumphs I have come to believe we are here to enjoy life -- to connect to each other and who we truly are -- even in light of our challenges.

My journey has been a process, not a quick fix. The foundation of my growth has come from accepting myself and utilizing my challenges as catalysts to expand compassion, understanding and love.

21 years later

I am happily married to my husband of 14 years. We adopted our beautiful son, Jack, who is now 3 years old and flourishing!

Although life is wonderful, it's not perfect. And I'm glad it's not -- because it's been through embracing my imperfections that I've made the most progress in life.

I am blessed to do the work I love

7 years ago I walked away from my comfortable 14-year corporate job to do the work I'm now called to do. Today, I have a full time life coaching and yoga practice where I get to help people develop the skills and capacity for inner strength so they too can live differently and fully -- even if they lean toward anxiety- just like me!

What I Stand For

I believe that at any given moment there is more right about who we are -- than wrong.

I think as a society we have to let go of our quick-fix mentality and instead establish our capacity to look within for answers and embrace the ever-changing human condition.
